How can human and environmental-made memories work as a tool to envision possible alternative land- scapes of ice?
Focusing on Sweden, where long-distance skating is ingrained in the region’s identity, the artist delves into the disappearing frozen bodies of water, capturing personal memories through expeditions with villagers. Influenced by Susan Schuppli’s work on the politics of the cold, the project aims to make the impact of climate change on these powerful environments visible.
The project is both an exploration of frozen landscapes and a research base for future projects, emphasizing fieldwork and material research. The approach involves thorough research, interaction with the environment, and experimentation with various materials and tech- niques, showcasing a journey of discovery and interdis- ciplinary learning.
